Starting a Philippine business as a foreigner is complicated and not straight forward. It is difficult to find accurate information or advice. Equally, most documents governing business activities (i.e. the Constitution, SEC, BIR, DOLE, Supreme Court rulings, etc.) are not well indexed on the internet, so self-educating is inherently flawed.
Going to the traditional process of setting up a business in the Philippines can be time consuming and costly. Just registering a business in the Philippines can take at least 2-6 months to establish. Talking to different people like consultants, lawyers, accountants, tax professionals, office lessors and suppliers, and human resource professionals, are often than not, provide confusion because the information is not integrated to make a clear and concise decision of how your local business can be set up. Foreign start-ups therefore expose themselves to a business set-up that does not provide them with the efficiency that they need, and worse, they are subjected to compliance risk exposures with different Government agencies in the Philippines
